HISTORY
The Local Action Group (LAG) Polesine Delta del Po is an Association recognized by the Veneto Region. The LAG was born in 1994 within the Leader II Community Programme, with the purpose of leading projects for the development of the territory and of the rural tourism in the province of Rovigo.
Through the Leader II (1994-1999) and Leader + (2000-2006) Community Programmes, and now with the Local Development Programme (LDP) Axis 4 Leader of the RDP 2007-2013, the Association is aimed to promote integrated actions of sustainable development and quality, experimenting new forms of valorisation of the environmental, historical cultural patrimony and of the typical productions of Polesine. Since its constitution, the LAG has contributed to the realization of many interventions in the Polesine territory, that can be seen connecting to the Leader + projects
MISSION
The activity of LAG Polesine Delta Po is mainly devoted to the valorisation of environmental and landscape aspects of the rural areas of Polesine and of the Po delta, through specific interventions for the development of rural itineraries in connection with slow eco mobility paths, to promote a new form of environmental rural tourism.
The Association operates in the territory of Rovigo province according to three strategies of intervention:
support to pilot strategies of rural development with territorial and integrated characteristics, based on a bottom up approach and on a horizontal partnership;
support to interterritorial, transnational and transborder cooperation forms;
availability to participate in the creation of nets among the rural territories of the European Community and among operators of the rural development.
The strategy is based on the bottom up principle (Leader approach): projects and development lines are established through a bottom up method, in consultation with the bodies and/or associations, public and private, economic operators and the population living on the territory.
